The Hard Rock Cafe
The Hard Rock Cafe at Universal City Walk is the last of the three original Hard Rock Cafes in Los Angeles which is still open. And it is spectacular. It is also the biggest and there’s a big guitar outside the cafe.
The cafe is a big, open, round room. There’s a round bar at the centre of the room and a gold ‘57 Cadillac is placed over it. The cafe has two levels, full of things that once belonged to rock ‘n’ roll stars. The high walls are covered with black leather jackets, records, posters, electric guitars and clothes worn by rock/pop stars.
A huge electric guitar decorates the ceiling of the second level. And if you look closely, there are even more valuable objects in glass cases and elsewhere around the room. You can see the famous white sunglasses of Nirvana’s dead lead singer, Kurt Cobain, a karate outfit from Elvis, a black leather jacket worn by Elton John in his youth, the round glasses worn by former Beatle John Lennon, the drum set Ringo Starr used just before he joined the Beatles, and a saxophone played by President Bill Clinton.
There is rock/pop music playing in the background all the time, as well as music videos playing on many TV monitors around the room. Service is excellent and prices are not too high, but the food is quite ordinary.
